Microsoft Merge Module - Apart from the standalone runtime installer, this is a Microsoft Merge (MSM) module. Use this merge module if you want to merge the runtime support with your own application installer.

Merge modules cannot be installed directly, but rather are merged into an installer for each application that uses the component. This ensures that the component is installed consistently for all applications, eliminating problems such as version conflicts, missing registry entries, and improperly installed files.

Standalone Runtime Installer - In lieu of using an installer program, you can run “StandaloneRuntime.exe” that is included in this Zip file. It will place the required component runtime files into the Global Assembly Cache (GAC) of the target machine.
